Vertigo physiotherapy is specialized treatments done by a specifically trained vestibular therapist that are aimed to reduce symptoms of dizziness or vertigo and improve balance. The vestibular system refers to the inner ear and its corresponding area of the brain that controls balance, dizziness, and eye movements.

There are many different causes of vestibular dysfunction, so you can expect your therapist to go through a thorough assessment to determine the best treatment plan. This assessment will entail a thorough subjective history, balance tests, as well as movements that involve lying backwards and rolling over. The therapist will be looking at your eyes often, as the eyes are controlled by highly efficient and complex reflexes involving signals from the inner ear and other parts of the body. You may also be asked to wear specialized goggles to further assess the movement in the eyes. Based on the results of these tests, a treatment plan will be laid out by your therapist.

My involvement with sports and movement first started out by playing ACAC Soccer with Concordia University in Edmonton, where I played for three years before completing my Bachelors of Physical Education at the University of Alberta in 2011. My work as a personal trainer at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park ignited my love for human movement and optimizing function, leading to a three-year journey at the University of Western States, where I completed my Doctor of Chiropractic and Masters in Science of Sports Medicine.

Since graduating, I have worked with numerous athletes from a wide variety of ages and experiences, one of my most memorable being my time with the BCHL’s Vernon Vipers.

Throughout my career, I’ve found myself most fascinated with faults of the feet and developmental kinesiology and have also established Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization as a pillar of my practice, as I believe it to be important to observe the human body as a whole. This means assessing functional movement patterns while also taking into consideration nervous, muscular, lymphatic, skeletal, vascular systems and of course, mental or emotional states.

On my days off, I’m at my happiest when I’m biking, climbing, running, snowboarding and playing in the beautiful Canadian Rockies.

Hi there, I’m Cindy! I grew up on the west coast of Ireland playing lots of sports from a young age, particularly soccer, and was introduced to physiotherapy pretty early for my own injuries. I was fascinated by the rehab process and intrigued by the body’s ability to heal, and the role that physiotherapy played in facilitating this process. It didn’t take long for me to settle on a career path.

After receiving my BSc. in Health Science and Physiology, I went on to study Physiotherapy at Trinity in Dublin. I had lots of exciting roles early on in my career; treating sports injuries pitch side, representing the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists at the European surfing championships in 2011, and being mentored by a veteran international rugby league physiotherapist. Fast- forward to 2013 - I traded my surfboard for a snowboard and moved to Alberta!

These days I can be found in clinic treating patients of all ages and activity levels. I take a client centred approach to treatment and use a combination of exercise, dry needling/IMS and manual therapy to provide pain relief and promote optimal function. I place a special emphasis on client education. For my pregnant and post-partum patients experiencing pelvic pain, I incorporate Rost Therapy, and I also offer pelvic floor physio for women experiencing incontinence.

So whether you find yourself recovering from an injury, or you simply want enough pain free mobility to play with your grandkids – I can help. You might find yourself pain-free, but wanting to introduce exercise or a new activity to your life and don’t know where to start – I can help with that too! In my time away from work you can find me chasing my young family, hiding with a hot drink and a good book, or planning my next travel adventure.

I look forward to seeing you soon at M1 Summerside!

Hi, I am Amanda. I have been a 2200hr registered massage therapist for six years. I graduated from the Alberta Institute of Massage Therapy in Red Deer. I recently moved to Beaumont this year with my husband and five-year-old son. I enjoy playing sports, camping, and simply just being outdoors.

I started my career in a spa setting and gradually moved into a therapeutic clinic. I love to build a clientele by making my patients feel welcomed and cared about. I specialize in making a treatment plan for each individual to make sure we can address your issues appropriately. Improving your quality life is my main goal. Whether its a deep tissue massage to alleviate those over-worked muscles and tackle those aggravating knots by increasing blood flow and decreasing inflammation or a relaxation massage to relieve tired, stressed muscle tension that could be the root cause of your headaches or insomnia. I also have worked with many clients with new and old injuries to help regain range of motion and subside acute or chronic pain. I have even maintained regular treatments with sports massage for clients who train hard before a special event such as full iron mans, triathlons and marathon runners. These regular treatments can help improve your performance and prevent injuries before your event. As a mother I am fully aware of what kind of changes your body may experience during pregnancy not to mention everything that happens after. Prenatal and postnatal massages are not just to address your body physically but mentally as well. I work with all types of bodies and honestly, I love the challenge to figure out what individual needs.

My work does not feel like a job, Biology and physiology have always interested me since high school. Since graduating from AIM I have stayed a member of CMMOTA by keeping up with my continuing education courses such as Reflexology, Dynamic Cupping, Jade Stone and I am currently working on being a 300hr yoga instructor. Some other courses that I am interested in are Craniosacral and Lymphatic Drainage. Also I have been looking into a dietary course to increase my knowledge about the foods we eat about how our bodies process them as many problems such as low back pain can be from inflammation of the stomach and its organs.

It’s never too late to start caring about your body. Thinking about your future and how you can improve your everyday life could be as simple as booking a treatment today. Massage therapy is more than treatment of the muscles. It helps with boosting energy, managing stress, regulating sleep patterns, helps you build awareness of the body to improve the overall health of your wellbeing.
